question for cmcfong about bermuda location

excuse any typos with my broken wrist. we are thinking of renting a vrbo property in july that is close to somerset village and two beaches: daniels head beach and long bay beach. what do you think of that location? thanks in advance for your help!

    The location should be a 5-10 minute walk to public transportation, bus and ferry. You would be within walking distance of Somerset which has a couple of restaurants and Cambridge Beaches resort. Cambridge Beaches has a very nice spa and an excellent restaurant. You would be able to walk to the Bermuda Railway Trail and Ft Scaur.

    You would be about a ten minute bus ride from Dockyard, which is where many of the cruise ships dock. There are shops and several restaurants there. You would be about 15 -20 minutes by bus to the popular South Shore beaches and 30 minutes to Hamilton.

    Cruise passengers typically would not come to either of the beaches near you . The location of your rental is not a busy one.

    It will be about a $50 cab ride fron the airport, which is near St George on the East end of Bermuda.. You would need to either have a moped ( ride it only if you are very confident) or rely on the bus/ ferry system or cabs to reach most of the major points of interest. As cabs are very expensive, consider buying one of the transportation passes.

    Do check Trip Advisor ( and the Bermuda forum there) for reviews of the specific property. There are several regulars there who are frequent renters.



    I would describe the area of the rental as generally residential and off the beaten path of tourists. That said it is a small island with good public transport.
