I am from Spain and Cuba belongs to our past. Most of the people think about Cuba in a romantic way. I went to Cuba and I realized that is even more than I ever imagine.
One of the best thing for me was staying in a private house ( bed and breakfast) It is the best way to know the real Cuba and they treat you fantastic. Last july was my fourth time in Cuba. I would like to recomend a private house in La Havana in which I stay every time I go there. Its name is "Casa Abel".

I hope you have the chance to enjoy as I do everytime I go.
Excuse my English, I am afraid I am not very good.
Have a nice time in Cuba!

welcome to fodors. how about telling us more about your experience there. what did you see and go do?
as an american i can't go but sure would like to.
Tremendo27, your English is very good.
I am Canadian, and have been to Cuba twice, but I have stayed in resorts on the beach.
The Cuban people are wonderful.. so friendly.
Staying in a private house in Havana would be quite a different experience, and I agree, a good way to see the real Cuba.
I was in Havana for 1 day, and didn't see nearly enough.
Thank you for posting.
I know Americans cannot go there, but thousands of Canadians go there every year.
You are right Kodi. Lots of canadian go to Cuba. I met a few of them in my travels. I always wondered what is the connection between Canada and Cuba, but it seems to me is a good connection!
There are many private Casas in Cuba and Havana. The cost is around $30 CUC per night and the experience of being with a Cuban family is wonderful.
I'll be back in Havana and touring some areas of Cuba for the entire month of February and can hardly wait. It will be my 10th trip back.
For those with a hankering to see what Cuba is really like off the resorts, have a gander at my website (with text and full explanations).

Or here's a "slideshow" from the Spanish Colonial town of Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Cuba's south coast.

Here you are a link of a paradisiacal beach in Viñales, Cuba.

It is a cosy island and it has the whitest sand and clear water I have ever seen.
I would love to go to Cuba but being an American I can't. Thanks for the info and pictures Maybe some day.
Hopefully soon you can go to Cuba
