I just wanted to let everyone know that my fiance and I have decided to keep our honeymoon on the island of St. Kitts. We are both looking forward to the unspoiled and untouristy virtues of the island. The rainforest and volcano are big hits for us (especially since we originally wanted Hawaii...too expensive). As September draws near, the more excited we are about our "unusual honeymoon destination" and enjoy explaining it to all who ask us! Our fears about going in September "hurrican season" were put to rest by our wonderful travel agent...Cheryl at Liberty Travel...who guided us in purchasing travel insurance and assured us that should a hurrican happen, we will be diverted to another island! She also state that our chances were greater of NOT having a hurricane than they were of having a hurricane! My advise to all other off season travellers is to have a good agent working for you and available should you have problems or questions (I have put mine through the mill will all of my paranoid questions throughout the months and she never gets aggrivated!)

Goodluck on your trip to St Kitts for your honeymoon.I have researched/read about the island and it sounds great! I hope to visit there on day and see the rainforest.It's getting harder and harder to find the unspoiled places.I look foward to reading your post about your trip at a later date-congrats on your engagement! St. Kitts is great! I stayed recently at the Golden Lemon and loved it! Our room was LG-8 (for lemon grove) and we had our own splash pool, plenty of privacy and the food and drinks were wonderful. Do not spend the money to eat at Ottley's--it is way overpriced and not nearly as good as the Golden Lemon. Enjoy!
You'll absolutely love St. Kitts. My husband and I went there for our honeymoon 2 years ago, and we stayed at Ottley's Plantation Inn. Great great place. The owners were wonderful. We got the package that included breakfast, dinner, island cruise to Nevis, packed picnic lunch to the beach, and a tour around the island. Went to town 2 of the nights to have dinner and did a little gambling. All in all...I would go back to St. Kitts in a heartbeat. Hope this helps
