Point Grace and Providenciales Trip Report

Jump to last reply

We just returned from and eight day/seven night stay at Point Grace in Providenciales. We had a very nice trip. I will break the trip down into parts. This was our first trip to Provo. Thank you to everyone that provided help and information on this forum.

Resort - Point Grace is a small, beautiful resort. It really is a special place. One of my favorite parts was that everyday there was never a problem with getting a spot at the pool. The pool and beach are beautiful. The pool bar and lunches are great. The free breakfast was also very good. Also, we enjoyed the free drinks from 5-6.
We stayed in an upper cottage suite. The suite was furnished very nicely and we enjoyed the large balcony. We liked having a washer and dryer, very useful.
We liked the resort and would highly recommend it to people that want a quiet, relaxing vacation. We enjoyed the quietness, but at times it was a bit to quiet for us. Also, the service was pretty good, but not on the level of a Four Stars or Ritz Carlton. I could go into detail on a few service issues, but I don't want to sound negative on the resort - it really is a special, romantic place. Also, Point Grace was not the only place that I noticed service issues, so I do not want to hold it against them.

Beach/Other Resorts - The beach is simply amazing. The water is crystal clear and water temperature was perfect to swim in on the hot sunny days. I think I pretty much visited most of the resorts on Grace Bay. I prefer the section of beach from Point Grace to The Tuscany - it is less crowded. Our favorite place of
all was Grace Bay Club. We stopped in a few times and the service was OUTSTANDING - equal to a Four Seasons standard. I also like that the resort has a lot of beach frontage and it is not super crowded. I am glad we did not stay at The Regent Palms - it was extremely crowded at the pool and there were tons of kids.

Taxis - Very easy to get. I was originally worried about this. The hotel just calls and one is there within 3 minutes.

Dining - Overall, dining was very good on the island. Some places had service issues. Nothing major, more just very slow and inattentive at times. Our favorites included:
Bay Bistro - What a great place for lunch! We actually saw JoJo the dolphin swim by. Everyone cheered, it was a highlight of our trip. Great food at lunch.
Hemmingways - We loved sitting at the bar and eating here - food is ok, but we liked it.
Grace's Cottage - Very good dinner. Expensive, but the bean soup, filet and risotto were excellent.
Coyaba - Excellent as well. The lobster in cream sauce was very good. Very good service as well.
Anacoana - Our favorite. We has a table right on the beach and it was beautiful. The food was very good as well. They have a tuna roll appetizer that was too die for. We went here on our last night, and thought we would have gone back more, if we were there longer. We loved The Lounge there - the live music was excellent. Service was amazing at restaurant and lounge.

Excursions - We had originally planned to complete a few excursions, but we were just so happy with the pool and the beach that it was enough to keep us busy. So, we actually did not do anything, but just enjoy Grace Bay.

Overall - Overall, Grace Bay is gorgeous. I would like to return in the future. Next time, I would really like to stay at Grace Bay Club. The resort just seemed to have great service, which in my mind can make or break a trip. If not Grace Bay Club then, I would like to try the new Regent (not Palms), this condo hotel looked gorgeous. The pool looked amazing as well. I also thought Seven Stares looked pretty amazing.

Next Year - I don't think we'll be back next year, but we will definitely go somewhere in February. Any suggestions for a great beach like Grace Bay, but with a little more of a party scene? We loved Provo, but we also like visiting places where there are little beach bars and with more nightlife. I am kind of thinking St. Martin? Any ideas?
