Planning a vacation with 2 teen boys, need help to decide...

Thanks to this forum we´ve narrowed our options to Mayan Riviera or St Maarten / St Thomas combo for our vacations next June. We´re a couple in our early 40s, boys are 14 and 16 y/o. We love wide and long beaches but nothing too laid back. We prefer lively beach bars and parties rather than complete relaxation. We are very active (especially the boys) and looking forward watersports, daytrips, luxury shopping and some nightlife ( dance clubs, mainly electronic music, would be great for a night out without the boys). We are not interested in snorkeling or diving. We´re looking for something lively but not too crowded and beautiful natural scenery. We ruled out Turks and Cayman, seem to have the better beaches but we found not much to do there. Ruled out Jamaica for safety reasons. Barbados and st Lucia look good, but expensive and more adult orientated from what i´ve been researching. We´ll rather rent a condo through vrbo than staying at a hotel, that will save enough money for tours and attractions, dont feel like being enclosed in a resort for 15 days. So far our best option is st Maarten 8 days / St Thomas 6 days. St Maarten staying in the dutch side, including a daytrip to Shoal Bay Anguilla and half day kayaking tour to Pinel Island. Planning to rent a car to get around and try different beaches. St Thomas would include daytrips to St John and the 4 island BVI tour. In addition, we found the Ziplining adventure, Skyride to Paradise Point and Magic Ice Museum to be fun to visit as well. Planning to rent a car and go to Magens, Coki and Sapphire beaches. Our main concern is that the teens wont get bored, went to Orlando and Atlantis Bahamas a couple of years ago and they had a blast and hope they wont be disappointed next trip . Second option would be Mayan Riviera, already gone for our honeymoon (but that was more than 10 years ago), and there´s lots to do, but Cancun felt too americanized, much of a "Miami vibe", beaches are very narrow from what i can recall, too crowded, and full of seaweed. Playa del carmen would be our base with daytours to Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Xcaret waterpark and Tulum. Prices for 2 weeks are rather similar. 3rd option would be Aruba, but it lacks the possibility of island hopping and maybe 15 days are a bit too much for that destination. Any suggestions on itineraries, activities, or other destination would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
