Places to eat in St. Kitts and Nevis
We are going to St. Kitts and Nevis at the end of the month. Besides the restaurants listed in the guide books, does anyone have any recommendations for some places to eat that are more local and not expensive. We like to eat where the locals would go to eat vs spending a fortune every night.

I just returned from my first trip to Nevis a couple of months ago and we had two favorites. Montpelier was wonderful for a celebratory dinner and in my opinion lives up to the hype in the guide books. But our favorite dinner out was at Cla-Cha-Del for its local, laid back feel, genuine warmth from the host/bartender/waiter Pas, overall value, etc. Next time we're on Nevis we'll have several meals there instead of just one.
I found www.nevis1.com very helpful when planning my trip. You might want to check it out.

On St. Kitts definitly try PJ's pizza, a casual italian restaurant with excellent food and service for a reasonable price (near the Marriott area).--P.s. the goat chees ravioli appetizer is awesome
Also, try the friday evening beach barbecue at turtle beach bar--excellent ribs.
Stonewalls was also cool for a casual place, but it wasn't necessarily "cheap".
Have fun.

We loved just dining at the beach bars! They're open-air, totally relaxed, with the best sunset views...and most offer lunch & dinner. On St. Kitts, we loved Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack and the Monkey Bar, and on Nevis the Golden Rock beach bar and Sunshine's. Golden Rock's beach bar is the only one that was closed for dinner. At the rest you could typically get a full, very fresh meal with salad, rice & beans, and a main item for $12-15 (chicken) or $18-22 (lobster) (typically cheaper at lunch vs. dinner). That, paired with cheap but wonderfully tasty & STRONG rum punch, made for the best value (and consistently good!)meals. And there were locals dining at each of these, particularly Golden Rock's & Mr. X's.

Definitely visit Turtle Beach Bar & Grill www.turtlebeach1.com for delicious steak and seafood. Fabulous view of Nevis, snorkel equipment for rent, bonfire at night, friendly and efficient service. See Wilbur the pig, Tarzana the monkey and Cappacinno the resident goat. Fun place to lime on Sunday's.
