Pineapple Beach Antigua
How does this resort compare to a Beaches or Sandals? We are looking for a place to take our your preschoolers. Is the ocean calm enough for little ones. Negril was great. We spent hours on the beach and in the water, it was so calm and we are trying to find something similar.

Hi,
if you visit this site:

http://communities.msn.com/AntiguaBound

You will find lots of photos of Pineapple and Jolly Beach, a site plan for Pineapple Beach Resort and an active message board where you can ask questions and read trip reports.

From the reviews I think Jolly Beach will be a bit more active for the older kids,Pineapple tends to have a reputation as being so quiet even the married people complain!

We have stayed at Sandals twice and had a great time, however it is for couples only. We looked at the Pineapple Beach Resort but we were not impressed. Another property you might want to look into is the Blue Waters Beach Resort-- a coworker at my husbands office went there and really liked his stay. Another is St. James Club--see Fodors online destination guides.

Hello!
I stayed at Pineapple in Antigua a few years ago - six or seven.
We enjoyed the resort, but the food was not the greatest. However, I believe it is under new management/ownership, so perhaps that has improved.
The beach is nice, and has good snorkeling with a bit of a swim offshore. We were pleased with the accommodations - stay upstairs as there is a nice high roof in those rooms.
One of the best things was "The Out House," a cool bar up on top of the hill with great views and company. (Of course, not for kids, though.)It's really not a kid-oriented resort, but I'm sure they would be welcomed.
The ocean is very calm.
However, for little kids, Antigua does not have as much to do/see as some of the other islands...
(The resort is not as "glitzy/touristy" as Beaches or Sandals - more laid back.)
I'd look for other options if I were you.
