You'll get more replies if you tell us what you want to do while visiting the Caribbean. You'll find relaxation, good food, rental cars and places to expore on all three of those islands. Why don't you read read up on what each of those islands have to offer as they are each quite different. Once you have a feel for the islands you be able to find out if they appeal to you. Use the search feature on this site to read past threads and also read the Fodor summaries of those islands.

hi chris,
st. lucia: is very large, extremely lush and hilly. has volcano crater you can drive into, rain forest and the pitons. driving is a a bit difficult.

barbados is large, but not lush and hilly. british/island atmosphere. lots of historical sights. 'the gap' on the southwest end is where many restaurants, bars and things to do are. nice beaches on the west side.

grand cayman is smaller, flat and arid. excellent for diving and snorkeling. easy to get around. not that much to do that does not involve the water. 7 mile beach is known as one of prettiest in carib.

of the 3, i would say, barbados has the most activities and the best dining opions. could be the best choice for you.

thanks for the responses to my question. things that i like while on the island are nice beaches and snokeling. if it helps, while in aruba i liked traveling up the north and seeing the rough ocean and the natural pool. mostly i like to see the natural beauty of the island. not so much the historical parts of the island. thanks for any suggestions.

considering that you enjoy dramatic nature i now think st. lucia might be the better option for you. i have heard the snorkeling is ok.

you can also read about given islands by clicking the destinations tab above.

I think Barbados is going to be your best option. It is really a gem. Try a Barbados punch drink as you enjoy the beautiful beaches. The water is so crystal clear you can see straight to the ocean floor. There is much upscale dining as well as just good food. Some people only see the well traveled parts of Barbados. The rest of the island is full of natural beauty --from rippling fields of sugarcane in the interior to the Atlantic surf pounding against the cliffs at the island's northernmost tip. The island will reward you if you are willing to do some independent exploration; by all means rent a car to see its other side.
