Passport

Any way to check on the progress of a passport application? My husband and I sent ours in in early May, two days apart. Mine arrived over a week ago but no sign of his yet. We are going to STJ on 6/28 and were hoping to hop over to the BVIs, but I understand we can't do that if he doesn't have his passport -- true?
Is there a website or anything that lets you make an inquiry?
