Papagayo Beach Resort?

Jump to last reply

Has anyone stayed at this resort? It sounds pretty nice--2 bdrm villas. But I'm wondering if it will be a problem being a bit far from the center of town. They do provide a shuttle. It would be great to hear some feedback. Thanks.

Hello, we stayed at Papagayo last November. The units were nice. We stayed in a unit near the top of the hill which gave us a nice view of the sea. It was pleasant to have the two walls pushed back and enjoy the breeze though it did get quite warm during the day. AC units in the bedrooms only. The restaurant on the property was
nice. European style beach right across the street from the resort with nice restaurant and bar, named Zanzibar I think. It was about a 15 to 25 min. drive to downtown, depending upon whether or not you hit their rush hour. We rented a car and didn't mind having to commute to downtown. We preferred staying outside of the city. It gave us a better feeling for the island as the resort is located near a residential area where the locals go out every night by the dozens and walk together. Not too far away is a wonderful small bakery that my wife and kid made me stop at everyday so they could have their "dutch apple pie fix". Anyways, if you stay here I suggest renting a car. Some nicer beaches and sights to see(plantation homes) are about one hour away near the western tip of the island. Also many nice restaurants to drive to, most with outside seating which we enjoyed very much. Hope this helps, any further questions feel free to email me, aha4159623@aol.com Good Luck
