We are going to spend Christmas week at Palm Island this year. It will be our first visit there. We have read that the beachfront cottages near the dock (1-6) don't have as much privacy as those on the other side of the restaurant (7-19), but those have smaller beach area. If you have been there and have a recommendation on what room to request, please let us know. Also, any other tips on Palm Island, snorkeling and side trips are welcome. Thanks.

We stayed in one of the beachfront cottages on the 'other' side of the restaurant. We had a very small beach directly in front of our cottage (past the brick path) but did have lounge chairs outside our door which was fine for afternoon reading and such. The best part of the beach belongs to no particular room as its in front of the restaurant. It is wonderful and you won't be giving up anything by staying in either of those choices.
There was a snorkeling trip to Tobago Cays which I highly recommend. Also, there was another small excursion but I don't recall what it was -- maybe over to Union Island.
Tips; bring lots of bug spray and benedryl in case they find you......and they will! Also, if you can pack a float -- one of those cheapies you get a a drug store or something -- I would definitely bring one as the water is pretty calm and you can float for quite some time.
Hope that helps a little. The powder-white sand and clear blue-green water is fabulous!!

Palm Island is one of the few places in the Caribbean where sand fleas were a problem for me. Take lots of bug spray.
Spent a glorious week at Palm Island several years ago, before renovation. As I recall, there were no sand fleas or mosqitos then, but it is always a good idea to be prepared!
