We have spent a week at both resorts. Both have everything you are looking for. The Palladium Grand is a much larger resort and requires more walking than the Iberostar. Don't get me wrong, both are large resorts, but the Palladium is much larger. IMHO, with a 3 and 5 year old, I would think the smaller resort would be better.

Shirley,
Thanks for your info. How do the rooms compare. Our kids are not very good when it comes to sleeping in the same room as us. They both are Jr. suites, but does one have the bedroom more separate than the other. Did you happen to see the kids clubs? How does the food and staff compare. Sorry about all the questions, but the prices are pretty comparable so i am having a tough time...

At the Iberostar Bavaro, the room had two double beds in the bedroom area. Then you stepped down two or three steps into a sunken area with couches built in along two of the walls. Then a door out to a small balcony. Older rooms but nothing wrong. At the Palladium, the rooms have recently been redone, within the last two or three years. First you enter into a seating area. Then into the bedroom area. Only separated by an archway. Can't remember if it is one king or two doubles. Sorry, I did not see the Kids Clubs. The food was fine at both resorts. Both on the same beach. You can walk from one to the other. Although it is a few miles. Don't think you could go wrong with either resort. Ask as many questions as you like, I'm glad to answer.

Shilrey just heard abck from the Iberostar regarding the kids club. First they said it is for 3-12 now today they told m eit is only for 4-12, so it will not work for me. I am very disappointed as I was leaning toward that resort. Regarding the rooms at the Palladium. Does the seating area have a bed? I would need my youngest to sleep out there and try to make it as separate as possible. I think I can request double beds. Is there a balcony? Are the rooms large? Is there an area of the resort that would be better ofr us to stay?

Junior Suites have either two double beds or two queen beds and a sofa that opens up to a full size bed or a queen size bed according to a Apple Vacation Catalog I happen to have in the house. I think its just the luck of the draw as to what you get. Yes the Junior Suites are large. Yes there is a small outside balcony. The Palladium is a large resort. The eating areas are near the main lobby, then as you walk to the ocean you go by all the buildings where the rooms are. Its a long walk from the main lobby to the ocean. Go to Applevacations.com and click on Palladium Resorts. There is loads of info and pictures that I am sure will answer your questions.
