We visited Elbow Cay and fell in LOVE with the golf cart for transportation, seclusion, and playing "Pirates of the Caribbean" by exploring neighboring islands everyday with our rented little boat. We LOVED Abaco, but heard great things about Exuma too! We want seclusion, but at least a couple of restaurant/bars on the island we choose to stay, all while having nearby islands to be able to rent a boat and explore as well. Anyone have tips as to where you would suggest going? I've also heard Salt Cay, and Barbuda are great similar choices too.

Oh, and we like to rent a house vs. staying at a "resort" or hotel, as there is a group of 6 adults traveling together. Thanks!!

Staniel Cay comes closest. Just because Yacht Club has "resort" in the name, doesn't mean it's a resort in sense of the word. It's colorful bungalows over the water, no tv, Great restaurant/bar. Skiffs to explore other Cays.

I personally like it more than Abacos.

I think there's a couple of "houses" for rent there, and the Yacht Club has a couple.

It ticks all your boxes, don't understand why you're asking again?

Barbuda certainly meets your criteria of being secluded - at any given time I doubt you'll find more than 200 tourists on the entire island. There are, however, no nearby islands that you can reach by a "rental boat" (the nearest is Antigua which is about 40 miles away across open water). You'll need a rental car or taxi to get around - no golf carts there! Only a few restaurants/bars that cater mostly to locals.

FYI - Coco Point Resort has some beachfront multi-bedroom "cottages" that are set far away from the main resort and they are separated from each other so you get plenty of privacy and don't get the feeling you are staying at a resort. The resort operates one of the better restaurants on the island.

Go to Barbuda if you want seclusion and are dead serious about wanting to "get away from it all". It's a very sleepy island.

As blamona pointed out look at your other thread on the same topic - you got a few other suggestions there. No offense, but starting multiple threads asking essentially the same question won't get you more information, only the same information.

If you love Elbow Cay, go back.

Nowhere else like it, everything is twice the cost in Staniel Cay, even harder to get to.

Hopetown is the greatest place on earth as far as I am concerned.

I answered your other post but, just in case you miss it, I think Green Turtle Cay, Abaco might be your spot. There are many nice beachfront houses to rent, transportation is via golf cart and rental boat, quite a few spots for those cold Kaliks, and it is actually quieter and more laid back than Hopetown although you will find groceries,liquor, and some nighttime entertainment to fill your needs. Airport is TCB (Treasure Cay) rather than MHH- five minute or so cab ride to the 15-20 minute ferry. The main difference is that from Elbow the islands you "hop" to via boat have bars and restaurants while more of what you see from GTC is deserted islands- take your own ice chest and picnic and enjoy! You can get to Guana on Sundays for Nippers on your own or go with Brendal to have a DD for the trip home.

ashleyjade- I responded to both your posts but emphasized Green Turtle more in this one. I hope you saw it as I think it is the spot you are looking for. A GTC homeowner, SocialAmanda, also put up a guide to GTC that has photos and info. Just bumping this to be sure you see it. Have a great time whatever you choose but if you loved Hopetown I think you would love GTC.
