Oualie Beach Hotel in Nevis - Anyone been there or suggestions on where to stay in Nevis?

Trying to plan a trip for my wife and I to Nevis this spring and am considering the Oualie Beach Hotel. Has anyone ever stayed there and if so, what is it like? Looking for any info you might have to share or any other suggestions for places to stay and things to do in Nevis. Also, how are the beaches. Thanks.
We have stayed at the Qualie Beach Club
and enjoyed it very much in the superior
accommodations ( newer and more spacious
than the original cabins. ) There is not much of a beach there but you get beautiful sunsets. We have also stayed at the Nesbitt. There you have a pretty beach and great food.

I stayed at Oualie for a week on my Honeymoon. We had a great time, the staff was exceptionally friendly, and the rooms clean and large (They gave us a free upgrade to one with a Kitchen). On the down side, the rooms have a somewhat sterile feel to them (grey tile floors etc.), the beach is not the prettiest, but does have good watersport rentals. It is generally pretty desolate. There do seem to be a lot of mosquitoes there (they don't call it Mosquito Bay for nothing). If you want to be on the beach, and avoid the high price and crowds of the Four Seasons, it is one of the few available choices. I would go back, but I don't think I would spend 7 days there.

Kevin

Yeah, I stayed there too... a couple years ago. I liked it a lot. Was my first trip to caribbean. Since then, I've been to Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Curacao, Bonaire, Belize, Grand Cayman - for week long trips each place. But anyway, I'd give Oualie a thumbs up. Of course, if you've got a lot of money, Four Seasons is awesome. We drove around the island, visited plantations, beaches, etc. Plus, spent a lot of time on the beach right there at Oualie. I wasn't a scuba diver then but (I am now) I understand Oualie has a dive shop right there. I suggest ou pick up a Frommer's or Foder's book and read their reviews of places to stay... people's opinions vary so much. For example, the other replies seem to imply the beach at Oualie wasn't very good... well, that's not really the case... it was a nice beach, a private stretch of sand, plus, if you wanted you could swim around the corner of the bay to a rocky shoreline that I believe had some sandy patches you could claim all to yourself. The water was calm and clear. Never many people around. It was nice, peaceful. It wasn't like the mile-long stretch of white sand beaches I found on Virgin Gorda though. But nonetheless, it was fine. Enjoy yourself.

Nevis is a beautiful island. My friends have stayed in Oualie and said it is wonderful, but I myself have stayed in the Four Seasons Resort. That is absolutely fabulous. Every morning there are buffets for breakfast, every evening a steel band comes and plays at the pool. There is so much to do there, but is also the perfect place to just lie back and relax!
