We are thinking of spending one month (either Jan. or Feb.) in Puerto Rico. We would prefer a condo style building but are open to suggestions. Also, on or very near the beach. We don't want to be in San Juan. About one half to an hour away would be great. Any suggestions out there? Luquillo Beach has been mentioned by some friends, but I'm getting the impression that west of San Juan is better?.
Muchas Gracias !!

We honeymooned in Puerto Rico October 95 and loved it! Can't help with condo suggestions -- Luquillo Beach is beautiful. One part has a very calm, crystal clear water - great place for sun bathing a little swimming; another part of the beach had great waves for body surfing. You would also be close to El Yunque, the rainforest - great hikes and a great waterfall.
We spent our first four days on the small island of Vieques. I would recommend a trip there, if you like unspoiled, uncommercialized paradise.
Enjoy!
