Piece of cake: look at http://hotels.ai as it's a fairly complete listing by price. Arawak is lovely & Blue Waters may be in your price range (also check Anguilla Great House & Rendezvous Bay Hotel). There are fabulous restaurants that are not pricey, for example: E's Oven (owned by a world class chef)- 1/2 a roasted chicken $7-$8 & the best tarragon snapper on the island $13; Johnno's beach bar -- fresh grilled snapper sandwich on a French roll & all the sides $8; Ernie's & Elodia's -- ribs & stuff starting at $5-$6; the English Rose -- the best plate of fresh baked fish tenders I've ever had -- $5; numerous grill places on the side of the road -- great food for cheap; Pumphouse & Ferryboat Inn -- best burgers on the island for around $8; Ripples for Saturday dinner specials for $10; Corner Pizza -- huge pies for $12-15. I could go on & on but you can DEFINITELY eat very, very well for not much money.

Thank you so much for that information, thats exactly what I needed just assurance that there are options out there, I just hate paying top dollar for bad food, even though if its good its worth it. Thanks again...our choice of going to anguilla is becoming more of a reality...were thinking of going in late november, any feedback on weather and etc. during that time?

and I just found some incredible bargains on the aa web site for air for the end of Nov/early Dec. It's wonderful at that time of year - but then it's pretty wonderful most any time! Also check aavacations.com to see if they have any specials
cocolobo is reopening and has some good prices too but be aware that their tax and service charge is 25%.

We always go in November & the weather is glorious -- upper 80's during the day & lower 70's at night. There's wind on the island (gentle breezes as described in travel brochures but it's wind) which keeps it nice. You can still get a car there for $30/day which you may want depending on where you stay.

Yes, it is possible to do Anguilla on a budget!

In addition to Mary's suggestions I would like to add:

Maderiman's Beach Club on Shoal Bay East. Have not personally stayed there, but have friends that spent two weeks there last Christmas and found it to be very clean, comfortable and run by a very nice Anguillian family. I had a look around and the rooms are very specious and well equipped. And it is 30 paces from the beach.

The FerryBoat Inn also has apartments for rent.

Roy's Place in Crocus Bay has a Happy Hour every Friday, usually 3 dinner specials for $10 each.

Check out and do a search on www.news.ai and also check out the Anguilla Forum on www.caribbean-on-line.com , this is a very active forum and you will get lots of suggestions if you post a question.

See if you can get a place with a kitchen, even if you only use it for breakfasts you will save money as breakfasts can be quite expensive.

Mary has recommended all the places I would. The nice thing about these places is that if you want to chat with other people you can, and if you don't you don't. They are more casual than the upmarket restaurants.

There are lots of local bakeries that make sandwiches for lunch. Just go a little before 12:00 to avoid the school kid rush!

Another place to look into is La Sirena Hotel.

Have fun!

We are doing Anguilla on somewhat of a budget. We're renting a vacation home (see Bob Green's website-news.ai and click on villas) which will be our biggest splurge-about $ 1500 for the week. This will allow us to have a few meals at home, we'll be able to do coffee in the morning, etc.

We plan on hitting some of the more expensive restaurants for lunch...a trick we learned in our hometown NYC. Lunch is usually less expensive-same food. Leftovers will serve as meal later in the afternoon. We'll also do some takeout-from E's and Tasty's.

Hope this gives you some ideas. We'll be on island for the first two weeks of November! See you there!!

Try La Sirena Hotel. Great prices. Suites are just as luxurious as any room at Capjuluca or Malliouhana.

Will get great prices if you visit expedia.com.

Restaurant serves B/fast, Lunch & dinner and food is really great.

Although people seldom speak about it, I find it to a very nice place to stay with some of the most friendly staff on Anguilla.

Small and gorgeous place.
www.la-sirena.com.

Hi Diane! I will put in a good word for the Carimar Beach Club on Meads Bay. No pool, but with that magnificent beach, who needs one. All units (either one or two bedrooms) have fully equipped kitchens and there is a small grocery store just up the road. We ate breakfast and lunch in most of the time and had dinner out. Saved some $$$$$ doing it that way. I agree with previous posters that there are relatively inexpensive places to eat. We liked Ripples and Ernie's was OK. If you can splurge for one night, I would recommend Altamer. Fantastic food, wonderful ambiance, and outstanding service. It's worth the money and a great place for a special night out.
