Off Shore Snorkeling

Any AI resorts in Jamaica have good off shore snorkeling? Thanks, Monique

Point Village is OK. Caves probably the best for an AI

I stayed at the Caves, and you can snorkel off shore ... but the quality of the snorkeling is not what it is in some other islands (like Bonaire and the USVI) that are much better for snorkeling.

We loved Jamaica but would not go back because the snorkeling was mediocre at best.

If you want good snorkeling get Famous Vincent to take you out to the reefs...

OP asked about "off shore" snorkeling, by which I assumed she meant the kind of snorkeling for which one does NOT need a boat. That's the kind of snorkeling my husband and I are interested in also (though in former decades have enjoyed the other kind as well).

Actually, "off-shore snorkeling" generally means snorkeling sites that are accessible only by boat. "Off-beach snorkeling" means sites that are accessible by swimming from the beach. It's hard to know exactly what OP is asking.

I suggest using the term "wade-in" snorkeling to mean "from the beach," as opposed to taking a boat tour. Many many places with poor or no wade-in snorkeling (Florida Keys, places in the Caribbean) can have fine snorkeling at offshore reefs reachable by boat. Posters with this question are usually looking to snorkel right from the beach where they are staying. It would help for posters and responders to be specific.
