Nice but not-too-expensive accommodations in St Barths?

I'm looking for as great a place as possible... but want to keep it affordable. Can anyone recommend a place they loved in St Barth's?

We've had a couple of very nice stays at Village St. Jean. Nice, private accommodations with outdoor kitchens, beautiful views, very reasonable.

believe it or not, some of the villas are affordable. They are usually weekly rates but they have specials all the time. Depends how affordable you mean. It can range from 1000-10000! There is also a small but quaint and clean little unknown hotel called Hotel of the Three Forces. Haven't been at it in awhile but it sure was a deal...like $75 a night. Sometimes a cute apt. for rent is a deal too. A good agency to help you is Wimco here in the US...they have a website.

With the exchange, look for an accomodation that posts in US dollars, not Euros. We stay where we consider a very good value, a beautiful private villa on the Flamands hillside (many think this is the Island's best location) www.stbartsvilla.com, that the owner rents directly. There are others in this price range as well.

Check out this month's issue of CT&L for affordable options, as well. A couple of places are reviewed that I am not familiar with....worth a shot! Good luck....we loved St. Barth's, but very different from our usual Caribbean haunts. Much more chic and european than any island we have been to. A culinary paradise!

We've always found the Hotel Emeraude Plage - right on St. Jean beach - to be one of the best deals (if there is such a thing! on St. Barts).
