Sorry,

No blue water and white sand in Trini but be sure to visit Tobago (Pigeon Pt. for that. Tobago is just 15 minutes airplane ride from Trinidad at a minimal cost.

Don't get me wrong there are lovely beaches in Trindad ... Maracas Bay is the most popular and is a "must go to". Try the "shark (or kingfish)and bake" from Richard's, he serves it with your choice of over 15 condiments.

Maracas is very popular with locals on a Sunday (weekdays are usually quiet) and is only 30 minutes drive from Port-of-Spain.

I am a Trinidian and believe me if you want a great day at the beach with powerful waves that crash around you and the sweetest salt water this side of the Caribbean....you have to try Maracas Bay. It is the most beautiful piece of water that Trinidad has to offer. Tobago is great too but I grew up spending summers on Maracas Bay..so I would know!

Just back from Trinidad. BEAUTIFUL beach in Grande Riviere on the north coast. White sand and blue water. No snorkeling, though, because no coral reef. Best for just swimming and body surfing (currents aren't too strong there). Rainforests to hike and explore nearby. Stayed at Mt. Plaisir Hotel, which was wonderful and right on the beach. http://www.mtplaisir.com/index.htm
It's one of the two only hotels in town. Grande Riviere is tricky to get to, but totally worth it if you can manage it. Not touristy at all. Very chill.

Forget Trinidad,go to Tobago.Great beaches and diving. We saw huge manta rays which is kind of rare.Tobago is where the people of Trinidad go to get away from it all.I've been to a lot of islands and Trinidad and Bequia are truely the last of what the caribbean was like years ago.Go and enjoy before they are like all the rest!
