Next May-Coral Reef Closed!
Darnit, my fiancee and I had our heart set on staying at the Coral Reef Club at the end of next May, and had already gotten our airline tickets when we found out that it would be closed for renovations (which they had neglected to tell me last week when I called).
They said the Sandpiper would be open, but I'm afraid that is out of our price range. Any other recommended places in the same area and accomodation range?

Hi
I just received the Caribtours brochure in the post this morning & found it was closed from the 27th may to July. We are very lucky & are going at the beginning of May. I hear cobblers Cove is supposed to be very good. hope you find somewhere good.

Thanks for the input. Admittedly I was a bit hot under the collar when the nice gentlemen whom I contacted about the Coral Reef suggested the Sandpiper, plus their price structure was screwy for the 2005 honeymoon package. After some hurried research, and quick number crunching, it was indeed apparent that the Sandpiper would be in the same ballpark as Coral Reef, and that's what I booked. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to have as many 1 BR suites overlooking the ocean, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Am looking forward to trying the chef's creations, as well as those of Treasure Beach.
Thanks

Chefwah, I have a rooms map from Sandpiper from some years ago when we checked it out. They have some older units and newer (not as close to the water). The older are fine. Upstairs is better than down for view and privacy. Ask them for a rooms map. Closest oceanfront upstairs are #1 on the right facing the ocean, #21 in center, and #45 left. IMO, #1 is best location. (check that they haven't renumbered the rooms).

thanks for the response xkenx. I did see a map of the property on this website---http://www.scubamom.com/grenadines/barbados/sandpiper.htm--does that look similar to what you recall?
I was told by the reservation agent that they cannot promise any particular suite, but that since I was calling 8 months in advance I had a good chance of getting one. I'll contact them with specific room number requests based on your info. thanks a bunch
