We're heading to Nevis in January 99 and have been advised to use the air express between St. Kitt's and Nevis because the boat ferries aren't designed for tourists. Any other advice?
And any recommendations on Nevis beaches? Which are the best (sand and water quality), and which are more secluded? We'll be staying at Hurricane Cove Bungalows on Oualie Beach, Nevis.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to visit Nevis from St. Kitts recently, so I can't tell you about the beaches. I never heard from anyone, however, that the ferries were not designed for tourists. The problem I had was the ferry schedule, which has a very early morning departure from St. Kitts which I couldn't quite make.
Kate, when I was last in St. Kitts, I took the ferry over to Nevis for an afternoon. On the return trip I sat on deck instead of inside and had an exhilarating ride.
However, if I was staying on Nevis and had to transport my luggage there, I would probably not take the ferry. There isn't much room for stowing luggage as far as I could tell.
The only beach I saw on the island was the one in front of the Sheraton Hotel, and if it is representative of all the beaches on Nevis, you have nothing to fear - it was gorgeous!
Have a nice trip.
