nevis restaurants - hours/days of operation?
Hi everyone - I'm heading down to Nevis in two weeks and have been scouring the forums for restaurant recommendations, which have been plentiful and helpful to say the least.
We're staying at the Four Seasons from Saturday through Tuesday (Feb 24-27), but we also plan to take some lunches and dinners offsite for more laid-back and varied experiences. I've read that Mango is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays; does anyone know if any of these offsite restaurants/bars are non-options for our stay:
Bananas, Sunshines, Chevey's, Double Deuce, Golden Rock, Oualie Beach Resort, Hermitage, and Montpelier.
Thanks!

We stayed at the Hermitage last year and are returning this year. We were not usually around at lunch but they, along with Montpelier, Oualie, and Golden Rock, are open every day. I would phone ahead for reservations at the plantation inns.
Sunshine's and Chevy's are open daily, I think. Not completely sure about the others. Just double-check when you get there.
Nisbet is also a nice spot for lunch at their beach restaurant.

I highly recommend Chevy's on Pinney's Beach! Delicious food and friendly service and steps from the Four Seasons. They are also open every day.
Visit www.nevisisland.com for other options.
Miss June's is very popular (reservations required)

Is this your first time to Nevis?

Thanks for the replies... and, yes, this is my first time to Nevis and the first time I've been back to the Caribbean since Spring Break during my college days! Fortunately those days are behind me and I'm looking forward to enjoying some nice, quiet beach time away from the bitter NYC cold weather!

Have the concierge at FS make the reservations for you. If for some reason something is not open (should not be the case) they will let you know. Bananas is just open for dinner, FYI, but that is a must. Definitely the best food on the island.
Montpelier for dinner also (assuming no small kids with you) Golden Rock for lunch - lobster salad sandwiches. Yummy.
Have fun!

I'm not sure of hours, but we loved Bananas, Coconut Grove and Oualie Beach. This year I want to try Chevys. We walked around there last year, but had already eaten at Sunshines (over-rated, in my opinion). Chevy greeted us himself and was very nice. It looked like a cool place to hang out.
The food at Oualie Beach Hotel is very good!
Have fun.

I normally avoid any kind of buffet food like the proverbial plague. However, we were at Oualie Beach last January (2006) and had a very good meal at one of their buffet nights. Really good shrimp, and my husband had an awesome steak, actually imported from the US. There was also a fun band that played afterwards. Even though it rained, it was a great night.

thanks for your responses!!
I've asked the concierge to make dinner reservations at Bananas for Sat night and Mangos for Sun... and plan to make the "trip" to Golden Rock for lunch.
I wonder if there's a bar nearby that will be showing the Oscars via satellite... I know it's silly and I'm sure that I can wait to see all of the pretty gowns on my DVR when I get home, but it'd be nice to see it live.

Hi,
The food at the Montpelier is good and the ambience is lovely for a special night. Just be sure to make a reservation. One place to definately avoid in Nevis is the Gallipot. The food is unimaginative and the owner is a nasty, rude woman who will ruin your evening. Avoid this place at all costs.
