Though Secrets and Couples are really great adult only resorts they are geared towards "Couples" Hence the name of the second one. I don't think a girl trip looking to party and have fun will find the honeymoon atmosphere at those resorts appealing. Couples resorts only books "couples" No singles to a room.
Andy85, we have stayed at the RIU Tropical Bay in November, 2006 before it became a Palace status. We did not like the hotel and it has turned us from ever staying at another RIU. Think low budget and you get what you pay for. There were hardly any children when we were there. There were loud, rowdy, obnoxious guests, the food was the worst of any AI we've been to (been to 14) the resturants reservation system is big inconvenient joke. Lots of topless women at the pool and beach if that bothers you or your kids. I couldn't believe with what we saw and experienced this was really considered a family resort. Again, this was several years ago and they have since turned the hotel to Palace status, so many things my have changed (except the resturant reservations as it is in all of thier resorts)
Read the reveiws on Trip Advisor. I did before we went and the reviews were pretty bad, but I thought it couldn't be that bad and we would chance it anyway. It was that bad and we should have heeded. You never know.
