Need Caribbean island/hotel suggestions for February trip with 2 year old
Hi All,
I am pregnant with our second child due end of March/Early April and my husband and I would like to take one last family trip with our two year old daughter over President's Day Weekend in Feb somewhere in the Caribbean. We are looking for a nice resort with a great pool and beach front. After a quick search we are interested in the Ritz in St. Thomas, Round Hill in Jamaica, the Westin in St. John, but those just popped up first.
Any other hotel/island suggestions? We are only going for 4 or 5 nights, want a direct flight from New York, and want a child friendly resort with nice rooms, good food and great pool/beach area. Probably won't be leaving the hotel too often since it's a short trip. Don't necessarily need a big chain hotel like a Ritz or Four Seasons...we like high end boutique hotel options as well.
Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

I should add we are also interested in Regent Palms and Grace Bay in Turks & Caicos. But don't they make you stay in a separate building at Grace Bay with children (looks like it is called the "Estate")? Anyone stay in that section before? Are you not allowed on the other parts of the Grace Bay resort with a child? Thanks again!

Is a pool very necessary? If not look at Caneel Bay on St. John - it's a short ferry ride from St. Thomas and a perfect location for a family with a small child and you'll have 7 different beaches within the resort's grounds to enjoy. I'd skip the Westin on St. John, the beach there isn't one of the best on the island.
blamona, one of the regular contributors on this form is our "resident" T&C expert - hopefully she'll see your post and offer guidance about the "family/children policy" at Grace Bay Resort. Provo would be a good choice for a destination as it's a relatively short flight from the NYC area and there are quite a few upscale resorts and "condo resort" that are perfect for families.
Just remember though, President's Week is one of the most popular weeks for families to travel to the Caribbean and resorts as well as airlines get fully booked fairly early on so don't delay making your decisions otherwise you may be disappointed. Expect to pay the highest room rates of the year and don't expect to find any bargains on airfares.

We are going to the Cayman Islands the week before. I am staying at the Beach Suites which is a good moderately priced boutique hotel. They have a great beach and friendly service. I found the airfares to be very high president's week, about $600, so we are going the week before. We are paying $350 roundtrip from JFK (Feb.6-13).

Look at the West Bay Club on Provo. It's now managed by The Grace Bay Club.
West Bay has some of the most gorgeous and largest rooms on the island, a very wide uncrowded beach in front of the hotel, small pool, and new in-house restaurant that opened a few years ago.
Only downside is proximity to the island's other restaurants. You'd probably want to rent a car for a few days, since taxis are quite expensive.
