I'm traveling with my boyfriend, his brother, and his sister-in-law and we're trying to decide between Nassau (or nearby on New Providence) or Grand Bahama Island. We're all late 20's early 30's. I think we're going to rent a condo/house on vrbo.com so in either case, we'd be staying a little bit away from the hotels.
We want to do some scuba diving, snorkeling, and other active pursuits. We like to run, bike, hike, kayak, etc. Anything active and fun. We'd like some nightlife and shopping but it's not the #1 priority. Definitely want some nice places to go to dinner & something to do on rainy days (casino, possibly).
Which island would you recommend? Thanks!

You would have more opportunities to run, bike, hike, kayak & snorkel on Grand Bahama. Outside of the Port Lucaya area Grand Bahama is much more rural with lots of woods. There are kayaking tours to the Lucayan National Park that everyone raves about. There is still shopping & nightlife in the Port Lucaya area.
Ugh, I don't know, I stayed at Our Lucaya and while the pool areas are nice, I wasn't impressed with the beach, local dining was horrible apart of one italien place and town wasn't very exciting at all. Not to be a downer but when we left we said we'd never go back. Just my opinion. It is probably true you can do more hiking, etc there.
