multiple family beach vacation

Hello out there,

Can you offer me some caribbean resort options for a multiple family vacation. We were hoping to spend no more than $10,000 for the week per family. We want to go this July. We looked at Beaches on Turks and Caicos, but thats around 14K and not including airfare!! We considered a home rental in St. John, but not having direct access to the beach will be a problem with the 6 kids we will have. Renting does give us a better budget option!! But all of us under one roof, I don't know about that, lol!! It will be for 4 families. This is proving difficult!! We do not want to go to Mexico and are hesitant to go to Jamaica. We are wanting a laid back caribbean vibe. We want to snorkel and have some water activities. Some want great food and wine! A fun place without all the craziness of some of the AI resorts. We do not need to have a circus or a water park on vacation!! If you have any suggestions, that would be great. I'm ready to give up!! We will also be celebrating my 40th birthday and my sons 13th birthday!!!!!

Thank you

Your budget comes to $60,000 for all of you - that's a pretty good amount. Have you looked into getting staying in one of the "condo resorts" on Providenciales' Grace Bay in the T&C's rather than renting a villa that can accommodate your entire group. With that budget each family could get a separate multi-bedroom unit (suitable for their size family) and you'll have plenty of money left over for food, wine and activities. You'll have all the conveniences of a resort plus each family will have the privacy of a fully furnished apartment.

FYI - you tagged "St. Kitts & Nevis" as a possible destination - while you can get similar condos and multi-bedroom villas on those islands they are not noted for snorkeling which is high on your list of "must haves" so you might want to save those islands for another trip.

Take a look at The Buccaneer Resort on St Croix. We loved it.

Look at THE VENETIAN or THE TUSCANY on Provo in Turks and Caicos. In July, you should be able to come in at budget. Each unit is three bedroom, with a well-equipped kitchen, and fully screened terrace.

The beach in front of these hotels is very nice and usually uncrowded. The only downside is that there's no restaurant on site, but you can get a quick bite at Ocean Club, which is two doors down.

If these properties are too expensive, also check out THE SANDS and the two OCEAN CLUB properties.

Food prices can be very expensive, but some of the restaurants- COCO BISTRO, BAY BISTRO, MR. GROUPER, are among the best in the Caribbean.

Good luck sillybilly!

We are somewhat obsessed with T&C and The Venetian! It's really beautiful property. My kids love it.

Thank you all again!!

Unfortunately, I have changed plans to a southern caribbean cruise out of San Juan. I think it will be easier accommodating so many people. Trying to find a resort/rental setup for 22 people was just too difficult and expensive. Airfare is still a big hit to the budget! Maybe next year we'll get to either St. John or T&C Just the 5 of us!!!

We are also doing the RCL Southern Caribbean cruise this July as a group (family reunion). We're looking forward to visiting some new islands!
