I saw an article in Conde Nast recently that talked about security on the islands and what was currently being done...it was very interesting. Maybe you can find that?

My husband & I went to the Turks & Caicos last summer. Almost no crime there - very safe any time of the day or night. It is not overrun with tourists becuase it has not become a "hot spot". The snorkeling and diving and excellent there. It is peaceful - no mega malls or heavy duty tourist traps there. Would go again.

Every post you put up seems to be to start negative discussions and you are not helping the board at all. I really wish you would go to a library for information.

You really don't seem to be interested in going to the carribean, but seem to be more interested in starting threads.

This particular thread you tried this same thread several weeks ago. Help the board to go away.

I've to agree with the above posting! There is no such thing as safest and least safe destinations anywhere in the world. It's what you make of it and how you handle yourself!
- crime can happen anywhere
- disease can happen anytime (you can get food poisoning in any restaurant in the world!)
- natural disasters - no one can predict natural disasters (duh, that's why they are called natural disasters) and it doesn't take a high IQ to figure out that perhaps the island of Monserrat is not a good choice for a vacation these days, if at all!!!!!
- dangerous wildlife and plants - you're kidding right? you could get bitten by your neighbor's rottweiler and get poison ivy by just walking through the woods.
If you can't handle the crime, disease, natural disasters and dangerous wildlife and plants that could hurt you in your own tiny little space on this earth, then you needn't bother with the Caribbean or else you'll just be one big ole' fraidy cat.

THere is nothing wrong with my posts and I don't have to defend myself to you two obnoxious, nasty people. YOU are the ones starting trouble, NOT ME.

I am simply getting dif. opinions and accounts.

Debbie's post is absolutely preposterous. It is obvious that different places have diffrent levels of risks for different dangers. A wise consumer learns of these in order to make informed decisions.

I for one enjoy a little discussion on the boards. Keeps it interesting. You can only read the same questions over and over before it becomes boring. I say if you don't like what Noah posts, DON'T READ IT!

My experience:
Least Safe (in no particular order): St Thomas, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Guadelupe, St Vincent, Grenada
Most Safe: Grand Cayman, St Barts, Cozumel, Curacao, Grenadines (except St Vincent), British Virgin Islands
Medium Safe: St Martin

I realize these are my biased impressions.

John, you missed the absolute safest...Anguilla. T&C is also very safe. You are safe from bodily injury/personal assault in Bonaire too, they just like to break into cars there! LOL

Tweedy & Debbie: I, too have been flamed by the beloved "Decent Tropical" or "Noah" or whatever.

I believe that she is bored and likes to start or continue threads regardless of whether or not they contain any useful information.

Asking about safety and health related questions about tropical islands can vary from visitor to visitor and season to season, coming down to personal preference. I lived in Jamaica when I was young, for example. I wasn't sick or in any danger, but many tourists are afraid to go there because of either what happened to them or from what they've been told by someone else. You never really know.

To each his own, I guess. I believe that travel and personal issues are different.

Interesting how people can so distort and twist things around.

Lee says that I "flamed" him. Here is what *really* happened, you can decide if he is right:

Lee replied to a post on a dif. thread as follows:

"Tom: You need to seriously consider getting a life, man.

Take some advice and go OUT and meet women rather than solicit them on the web. Get out of the house.

Good luck."

I then posted the following to Lee:

1. "Lee, you are being rude and ridiculous.

How do you know Tom doesn't go out?

I don't see anything wrong with Tom's post as long as he is extremely cautious about the replies he gets. Anytime one meets someone online, they should only meet them in person in a well-lit, well-populated public place until they really know who they are dealing with."

2. "By the way, Lee, if you have such a bustling social life, how do you have time to monitor this forum and make such frivilous posts?"

Noah's posts are repetative. This is not a honest attempt to solicite information; just a distraction to people who want answers to questions & upon checking new posts or updates find just another entry from Decent usually of a personal rather than travel nature. Or as in this thread, he asks a question & then answers it! And still has no personal experience to back up his answer......dangerous business. He is playing on the internet, unfortunately it is wasting alot of people's time.

Can this please stop? This is so ridiculous that I can't believe it.

My reply was to Tom and it didn't even concern you. Tom turned out to be non-plussed by the whole thing and laughed it off. Not you.

You are either: a) Tom's mother; b) Dear Abbey; or c) A member of the Hair Club for Men.

I don't seek your approval and frankly will not bother to return to this site that I have previously enjoyed doing, simply to avoid this petty and non-travel related, who's right, who's wrong banter that has zero insight.

The readers of this forum deserve better and I apologize to them for wasting space with this farcical diatribe.

I'm all for stopping the bickering but it's a two-way street. You can't expect me not to defend myself when I'm attacked and I only defended myself in reply to people's attacks on me.

Stop attacking me, and the fighting will stop. If you don't like what I say, DON"T READ IT.

There is nothing wrong with the threads I have started and I don't have to explain myself to anyone.

Noah: I have been a avid reader of this board for about a year and I don't ever remember encountering such problems until you surfaced. You have turned into a know it all pest with no practical travel experience and in most cases you even contradict yourself. Please go find somewhere else to play and let people with travel experience share what they know. With so much time on your hands do something constructive like donate your time but please leave us alone!

Evie, Your abysmal lack of critical faculties speaks for itself.

If you are tired of the fighting here, then why do you post an attack on me right after I said that I would love to see the fighting stop but that you can't expect me not to defend myself when I am attacked?

People like you create a problem and then complain about it. It's like people who provoke wild animals and then act shocked when they react.

Stop attacking me and the fighting will stop.
