Mosquito bites between airport and hotel - Grenada

A stupid question, but should I put insect repellent on my legs and arms as soon as I get off the plane? Will I get bitten between the airport and our hotel? We will be arrving around 9 or 10pm.

I don't think you will need to put insect repellent on at the airport. At least I don't recall there being any noticable 'hoards' of mosquitoes when we last arrived in Grenada at 4:00 pm (Feb.19th). Nor do I recall there being a problem between the airport and our hotel (Blue Horizons). I certainly don't think you will have any around at the time you are scheduled to arrive.

We did have some problems with the buggers at dusk. I would suggest you wear long pants if dining outside in the evening. They seem to attack under the tables. I made the mistake of wearing shorts for dinner one night at the Boulangerie and got eatin alive.

Great question as I've been bitten at various airports in the Caribbean waiting in the immigration/customs lines. From what I can tell, it's usually only an issue at airports without A/C.

Deinitely where some just in case you're not wearing long pants and sleeves. That way you can enjoy the fresh Caribbean breeze and sunshine without worry.

Speaking as a prime mosquito target I do anything I can to avoid bites so I'd use some wipes just before getting off the plane (not aerosol or your neighbors might start coughing!).
I'd cover up as much as possible and I'd also avoid dark clothing as mozzies are more attracted to dark colors.

I prefer a natural repellent called Repel (lemon eucalyptus oil) which is more effective than weak DEET ('skintastic for kids').

9pm isn't peak bite time but if it's just stopped raining they are often active in the evening.
Hopefully your arrival will coincide with a lovely breeze to blow the little &&*^& away!

The weather reports for next week show rain, rain, and more rain, so the little buggers might be active. Will put some repellent on before we get off; can't hurt.

Don't Caribbean weather reports always indicate rain, rain, rain?
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
I got back from Mexico on Wednesday and I didn't get bitten once without repellent, yay!

Just got back. Weather cooperated. And not one single mosquito bite during our 10 days on Grenada!
