More...."authentic" aruba gifts?

Hello all, was wondering, for those that don't want to just bring back t-shirts and mass produced souvenirs or gifts.....where did you shop and what did you bring back?

I know many who go to the Carribean want to bring back Rum, but I'd also like to bring back something above and beyond that if possible.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Though it may not be actually "authentic", I brought back lots of embroided linens. Napkins, place mats, table runners, pillow cases, table cloths, and hand towels. Also, some of the blue Delft Dutch pottery. Aruba has an aloe factory that sells aloe products. You can schedule a tour to go though it and then make a purchase.

There is a shopping center Downtown. Easy to walk through like a strip mall. Across the street from the Holiday Inn on Palm beach there is a new strip mall there. It wasn't built yet when we were there, but it's complete now. Also along the Palm Beach area were several little tourist type shops. I bought a real nice costume necklace in one of them by the Salt and Pepper restaurant.

the embroidered items and pottery is exactly the type of things I'm looking for...

were these things affordable or more expensive? Also do the customs regulations about live plants and what not apply to the aloe products?

The linens were inexpensive. The pottery was a little on the high side. Especially the bigger items. I bought a pair of taper candelsticks in the blue delft pattern for $15.00.

The aloe is manufactored into products. Like in tubes, jars, etc. It's not a live plant. More like cosmetic. We didn't visit the factory and I didn't purchase any of the products, so not familar with the price.

Here's the website for the Aloe Factory:
