We will be in MoBay Aug 1-6 and are looking for for things to do. We'd like to eat out once but not too much as we're at an all inclusive. I hear Falmouth is pretty close to MoBay and has a big theatre scene. I cannot find any theatre schedules however. Has anyone been?
We love off the beaten path (non touristy) stuff and need suggestions. We'd also like to shop and I heard of the HIP STRIP and Negril CRAFTS MARKET but wanted to know if they're any good Here is what I'm thinking:
South Coast: YS Falls ?? (suggestions) Lover's Leap
Montego Bay: Martha Brae River, Bellefield Great House
Negril: Crafts market, 7 mile, west end (is any of this worth it? a tour guide suggested rick's cafe for the sunset but I was unsure of this.
Do you have any suggestions for great plantation tours, or ways to experience the local culture? Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!!!
I understand Falmouth has a lot of history and architecture so if you can provide any suggestions on walking tours, art galleries, etc. please let me know. THANKS!!!

I love Negril (the crafts market there not so much). But I definitely think it's worth a day trip. See the gorgeous 7-mile beach. Lots of beach bars to choose from where you want to hang out. Then taxi up to "the Cliffs". Ricks is a matter of taste and certainly would be considered "touristy". I think Ixtabi or other bars/restaurants there open to the public would be nicer. But Ricks is famous and certainly no harm stopping in for one drink. If you want a fabulous meal in an incredible setting... make a dinner reservation at Ivans (at Catcha Falling Star hotel). Magical.
I really enjoy Jamaica but always go to Negril so can't help with your other questions, sorry.

Here is the tour operator for most of the AI hotels in that area:

It will give you a good idea of what is offered. From MB it is about 90 minutes to Negril. You'll either need to go on a tour or hire a private driver to get you there.
In my personal opinion, I didn't think the Craft Market or Rick's Cafe was worth going to if I had to drive 90 minutes to get there. We stayed in Negril and it was just down the street, so we did do both. There are tours that offer a full day Negril highlights tour that includes the beach, Margaritaville, shopping and Rick's Cafe at sunset. Their roof top restaurant had a great lobster dinner that was quite reasonable.
You might also do a search for Jamaica tours and you will find companies offering the same option less expensive than one I provided.
We did the YS Falls/Black River/Appleton Rum Tour and loved it. We also enjoyed the Mayfield Falls.
