Philip: I was there this past April and indeed the island is recovering. The residents who chose to stay on the island have been resettled in new developments. There are a couple of B&B's and hotels getting ready for business again. About half the island is still closed off and many homes and cars have been abandoned in this area. The volcano is still active but poses no threat to the North end of the island.
