I am looking for any information regarding the Melia Varadero resort in Cuba. I haven't been able to locate any information on the web, so any information and photographs would be appreciated.
I am looking for comments regarding the rooms (is there a safe in the room and is a mini bar included), food/bars and what is the snorkelling like right off the beach. Can you recommend any snorkelling tours.
Thanks in advance.

There are three Melia Resorts in Varadero. They are
1) MELIA LAS AMERICAS
2) MELIA SOL PALMERAS
3) MELIA VARADERO
You can find out lots of information on all three of them at the following link. Just follow the Varadero section link.

I have not stayed at these Melia resorts, but I did stay at the Melia Club Sol Cayo Largo, and from my experience, you simply cannot go wrong with the Melia chain. Very nice resorts.
Without doubt, there will be a safe in the room and all the other amenities you would expect from a 5-star resort.
Have fun
Steve
Hi Summer - ditto Steve on the Melia thing. We have not been to Varadero -no real scuba there for my hubby, so I'm thinking maybe the snorkeling right off the beach may not be that good - when you're at a great sandy bottom beach, you're not going to get the coral formations that make for good snorkelling.
But we have now stayed at the Melia Rio de Oro (now called Paradisus) in Holguin and 3 weeks ago, returned from the Melia Cayo Guillermo (the keys on the north coast of Cuba) and have enjoyed both resorts - nice large rooms and bathrooms with in-room safes and mini-fridge which includes bottled water, some pop and beer.
The food was good - a little different than what you would get in Mexico or other islands but good none the less. The Melia resorts always usually have a la carte restaurants where you can enjoy a sit-down meal and we found the International one at this last resort in Cayo Guillermo to be fabulous.
There shouldn't be a problem at all with the weather in Antigua in Nov/Dec. It is one of the islands that gets very little rain.
We were married at Sandals Antigua and it was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better weddingmoon. I am not one of those "Sandals Lovers" but this resort really has a great laid back and romantic charm to it. It has incredible landscaping, an amazing beach...and it's so peaceful and relaxing you can hear yourself breathe!! We have never enjoyed ourselves (or each other) more than on this vacation. There is plenty to do as far as land/water sports and at night they have entertainment (usually a steel drum band). They also have a beach party once a week. But what is so great is you can join in or do nothing at all! And the resort is like having your own Caribbean village to hang out in. We loved it!
And as far as the wedding, it couldn't have been more perfect. We had no stress what-so-ever. They took care of everything and it was SO beautiful. I can't really put the experience or the place into words to describe it well enough! We truly enjoyed it!
Congrats and enjoy where ever you choose to go! And if you have any other questions, or would like me to e-mail you pics, just let me know!
