My hubbie and I are leaving for Cuba Cayo Coco this weekend. From what I have heard and read, Cayo Coco is THE place for a relaxing vacation. We are staying at the new Melia Cayo Coco Hotel, a five star hotel. But since it only opened a few months ago, I haven't heard much about it. Is there anyone that has been there? How was it?

Hi Victoria,
Although I can't tell you about this particular hotel (we stayed at Sol Club Cayo Guillermo), I can tell you that it's located about 1.5 hours from Ciego de Avila (by bus). The region is beautiful and the people very friendy. Given the many shortages in Cuba, you might want to bring things like Aspirine, pencils (for the kids...), small bottles of shampoo... You can always leave these items for the people who clean your room... Have a wonderful time!
