Medical facilities on Grand Cayman, in case of emergency

My husband has had some medical issues that have required trips to the emergency room. What are the hospitals like on Grand Cayman?

Over the years, we have been to the hospital numerous times. I consider them on a par with the ones we have in our city. Just about what you would expect for a community of 60,000 people. Wouldn't count on open-heart surgery, but good for most lesser conditions.
Good 911 service as well.

I was hurt years ago on vacation and went to the hospital in GCM. The service was good and even though my insurance wasn't accepted, it was inexpensive! I had x-rays, emergency room visit and 4 RX filled and it was 215.00 US. I would feel comfortable in knowing that you would receive good medical care if needed.

Orangetravelcat - if you get to Grand Cayman, I hope the beaches are what you get to see - not an ER!

Cayman420 - Wow! My daughter had x-rays, and IV a few weeks ago in a ER (stateside); the charge for the ER cubicle alone was $1123, xrays $132.00, one Motrin $11.00, Penicillin - $198.00; total = $5100.00 for 4.5 hrs !!

If we get to GCM, I, too, hope we see the beaches and not the ER! But with my husband having had serious medical issues in the past, we'd fee better being someplace where decent medical care is available.

We have also used the emergency room a couple of times in the last few years and have been pleased. The doctors are from the UK hired on a contract and they apparently have a waiting list of doctors who want to work in the Cayman Islands.
