What is the standard and/or customary rate for transfer from MBJ to Negril, for two perople? Is it different for a taxi I might arrange myself (say, Clive's) versus one arranged through my hotel (CocoLaPalm)? Thank you!

We used Clive's. Couldn't have been happier. On the way from MJB to Negril, it was just us, even though we hadn't paid for a private transfer. On the way back, there was one other couple.
Good drivers, on time. Cold beer. (or water)
I also used Clive's with great success. I reserved it online in advance. It was in theory a shared shuttle but both times I was the only passenger (oh on the way back we did pick up one other person, another Clives driver who had to get back to the airport). I paid $20 each way, but it's gone up to $30 pp now.
We've only used the group of cab drivers sent by Coco la Palm, and I believe that they charge the same amount as Clive's. No problems, great guys, and they will happily stop at the little grocery store/gas station just outside of MoBay so that you can get cold drinks/snacks before the ride to Negril.
