Hi Tonya: We stayed at Club Oasis Akumal for a week in late May and loved it. We are already planning our return. It is an older hotel, with pleasant low-rise buildings, decent food, nice staff and is very moderately priced. If you go try for a beach front room. If you don't get one, ask at reception when you arrive. The beach at the hotel is white and the water turquoise. You can snorkel right across from your room - though you can also simply stand in the water and watch the fish! There are a number of hammocks by the ocean if you want to relax, or if you're feeling energetic you can a cab to Tulum, Xel Ha and Yal Ku all of which are very close by (the hotel has cycles you can borrow to cycle to Yal Ku). The area is the place the loggerheads and other turtles lay their eggs and is relatively unspoilt. I know the area is regarded as very good for diving. Unless you want more than a quiet dinner and a stroll in the evenings, I think Akumal would be a great place for a honeymoon - it's not Cancun, so there isn't any night life! Please e-mail me if you have any questions.
sue, could you give me more info on club oasis? How are the rooms, bath or showers, what were the people like, any night entertainment. We've been in the area, and loved the bay there, but are looking for a new adventure. We love all inclusives but really want a place on the beach with snorkeling and nice people around us. thank you, Maureen
Maureen. I think Club Oasis is all all-inclusive. The hotel is older (was quite up-market in the 60s and 70s, I think), Spanish-style, low rise and the only two rooms I saw had showers, but no bathrooms. All rooms had balconies. There are 120 rooms. Accommodation is modest and the food good. Essentially it's a very quiet place, though there was some entertainment after dinner each evening and during the day there were a few very low key activities - a cycle ride each morning, exercises in the pool, beach volleyball, etc. The staff were terrific and did everything they could to ensure we had a good holiday. The other guests were friendly - ones we met came from Mexico, South and Central America, Germany, Italy, Canada and the US. For a number it was not their first visit which is a good sign. The snorkelling is great and there is a dive shop, swimming pool, exercise room, hot tub, bar on the beach, etc. One of my best memories is of wandering along the beach way past midnight with the turtle patrol! Hopefully many of the eggs hatched successfully.

We stay here every year in fact I leave for the club on this Sun. It does have showers in all the rooms that I have stayed in. But there is not a seprate bathroom. there is a sink and dressing area the toilet is in a small enclosed room and in some rooms the shower is in the middle of the room. Not bad though. We like to stay in room 104 if you fax the front desk and ask for the room they are very good about getting you the room that you want if there is an opening. The staff are great and I Love to go to this club. My husband and I go once a year then my friend and take off for a vacation on our own for a week also. This year we go in Nov. We have never had a bad experiance in the area, and would recomend it If you check out GO_GO tours through your travel agent the club is having a special now I think it is land only for $519 a week US. and yes that is the alinclusive price. If you have a great time but don't look for lost's of night life or night clubs in this area. There was a hurricane that hit the area about 3 years ago so the place has been updated some. But don't look for a 5* resort. But the food is good and the service is great. The people there make your stay wounderful. I know that 104 has a king size bed. And it is larger then some of the rooms.
Have fun if you go
Carolyn
San Francisco Bay area

Hi,
We are planning a 2 week trip to stay at Club Oasis Akumal-very glad to hear such great reviews!! We were wondering about car rentals from the hotel. How much are they per day, and per week? (just a regular compact type vehicle). Any must see sites that we should be sure not to miss? Anyone go to Si'aan Kahn Bioreserve? I would be interested in hearing everyones trip "highlights". Any info will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Shelley
