Going to Martinique in April. Any suggestions on really nice beaches and/or trips to other islands for a day at the beach would be most helpful!

The best beaches are near the southern tip of the island, in the St. Anne area. The beach at Le Diamant is also beautiful, but the water is rougher.
It is not Martinique, but Guadeloupe, where you can easily take day trips to beaches on other islands - Les Saintes, Marie-Galante, Petite Terre, and La Desirade.
Les Saintes is a lovely little place with a number of little shops and resturants. There's a great fort there that offers fantastic views. You can rent a scooter in the square by the dock and tour the whole island. But if you enjoy a good walk, it's really a nice place to wander around.
I think that the best beach is Salines - but it is far - about an hour by car from the airport. We stayed at Bakua Hotel which has a nice small beach. We went to several others near the hotel which were not good.
