Has anyone stayed here? Are there restaraunts outside of the hotel within walking distance or do I need to rent a car? Any restaraunt recommendations? Are there certain towers in this hotel I should request? I was told part of it has been remodeled and is nicer than the other section. Please advise.

Don't think there is anything within walking distance. You should definitely eat at Havana Blue which is located at The Morningstar area. One of my favorite restaurants. Ever. Lots of good restaurants in The Frenchtown area of St Thomas on the waterfront. My friends who live there really like The Twisted Cork (I think it used to be called Craig and Sally's or something like that) which is higher end. Hook, Line and Sinker is one of my favorites and reasonably priced. Looney Bien for Mexican and The Pie Whole for pizza and beer specialties. STT has many good dining options!
Forgot to mention, you really need a rental vehicle to get around St Thomas. I would also recommend a day trip to St John or even Jost Van Dyke by ferry. You could easily do St John for the day without a car or take the car barge over. The downside to that is that it stops running much earlier then the passenger ferry.
frenchmans is high rise up on the hill. morningstar is 3 floors & by the beach. havana blue is wonderful. one of my favs too. there is a ferry run by the hotel into town - so convenient for shopping or dining if you don't get a car.
