Married 20 Years!! Need R&R from kids/jobs/life

My husband and I (early 40's) are at the point where we need time for ourselves. We have 3 teenage kids!!
We have been to Bahamas 3x, St. Martin, Hawaii (20 years ago), Puerto Rico. We are looking for rest, relaxtion, dependable weather, good food and accomodations, beautiful beach, no hassles, and Oh,yes! something that feels luxury, but priced moderately. College is upon us!!!
Appreciate your feedback,
If anyone has info re; good deals, let us know
Denise

Check out http://www.cooper-island.com/. If you want to spend more money try Guana Island, BVI. Palm Island or Young Island is interesting in the Genedines. Then there is Drakes Anchorage off of Tortola. More deluxe is Peter Island off of Tortola. If you really want something different try The Windmills Plantation at Salt Cay near Grand Turk. It all depends if you are in the $100, $300,
$600 or $900 per day price range and what activities you desire. Cooper Island by far is the best value with good beach and snorkling and also good diving. The rooms are modest but so is the price. We will go back since it is tranquil, easy to get to, fun to watch the sail boats come and go and it doesn't cost an arm and leg. We would also go back to Guana Island if the prices hadn't tripled since we were last there. We have been to all of the places mentioned and places on Culebra, Vieques, Bon Aire, San Martin, Antigua, Anagada, Virgin Gorda, Tortola,
Harbor Island, Anquilla to name a few. In the pacific--Lanai in the old hotel--not the resorts--is different cost around $100/night and you can play golf on the city course for nothing. Plus have free tranportation to the beach or either of the resorts.

Dear Married 20 years,

TAKE A BIG CRUISE!!!!! We took our first BIG cruise (meaning 1 week on a reputable ship). We went on Royal Caribbean---we did the Southern Caribbean cruise on the Monarch of the Seas. You are afloat---visiting a different island each day--The big decisions on this trip is.....Do we want to get off the Ship today??? Or, should we lay on the deck and have another frozen, fruity drink? Should I have soup, salad and appetizer, or maybe three lobster tails and skip the soup???? On a cruise you don't have to worry about where is it good to eat, or where to shop, what to do each day----all you have to do is learn where the dining room is and the ship staff will hold seminars about what to do on each island. And, since you have been married 20 years, it will be fun to go out dancing, bring your tux and fancy dresses and go out on the town--see a show etc.....A cruise can be what you want it to be......relaxing---or busy!!!!

You have not given us much to go on, such as the time of the year you plan to travel. Dependable weather is difficult from now until the end of November at least if your talking the Caribbean. For a great time for a reasonable price I would visit Cancun. Apple vacations have wonderful packages to visit Mexico. You can be in the lap of luxury for a very reasonable price. You will get a non-stop flight and they transfer you from the airport to your hotel. On the hotel property an Apple representative will help you book any tour or activity you might like to do. On the return they will reconfirm your air reservation, take you to the airport for a non-stop fight home. The exchange rate at the time is so good that even the best restuarants are afordable. Beautiful beaches, nice prople, lots of things to do and see. I have been there in May and October and only had a half hour rain in May. The food is very good and you don't have to worry about what you eat and drink at any hotel or restaurant in the area of Cancun proper. A rule of thumb is don't eat or drink from a street vender, unless it is a bottled drink without ice. If you want anymore information don't hesitate to ask.

After 20 years of marriage, you deserve the best. My husband and I felt the same way a few years back ( we are now married 27 years and in our forties). Our first "real" vacation (after our honeymoon) without the kids was a Sandals resort..all inclusive. It was the greatest! Relaxing, great resort, great food, great beach. Everything you could want incuding very relaxing. Or you could participate in alot of activities, if you choose. How does a Bloody Mary sound at 10 am on the beach with your husband, just watching the ocean. Since this first trip, my goal is to see every Caribbean island I can. And I'm not doing too bad. The best place I have been since Sandals in Jamica is Aruba. Jamica, however, is not a place to sight see. You did not need to..your looking for R&R,its wonderful. Aruba cam the closest, as far as perfection. This year we are taking a cruise ( i am afraid it will not be relaxing but fun) 5 islands to see and that's want to want this year. Good luck!
