We are traveling to St. Barths in February. Has anyone ever shipped their luggage to a hotel? We are trying to save time at the airport. If so how many days should you ship before you leave? Also, do cell phones work on the island?

They handle pretty much everything
with great anticipation and excitement i looked at luggagefree.com - well it's not exactly free! how about fedex? i used them to ship 3 large boxes to st. thomas hotel a couple years ago. worked perfectly. i shipped a couple weeks ahead. i think they can give an estimated arrival date. i did call the hotel to ask them to expect my boxes and keep them safe for me.
I dont know about shipping luggage. I've lost so many packages with Fedex, UPS, and DHL, that I wouldnt trust my stuff with them.
Pack lightly and carry on. That's my advice.
Cell phones. I have tmobile and international roaming works for me in the islands. Call your provider.
Peace, Greenie
Probably costs more than the airfare. I shipped a box to my daughter in Statia, I won't do that again.
Fedex won't ship luggage, so put your 'luggage" in a box and you'll be fine.
I;ve sent FedEx letters back and forth to Nevis over the past years but not luggage. I do shpi lugage in the continental U.S. via UPS. The boxes that I have shipped to Nevis NEVER arrived on time. They can take weeks, and weeks. Also, do not ship to W.I. (West Indies) shipping services seem to think that that means Wisconsin! If you do ship make sure you spell everything out. Lastly, what are you taking that you can't take with you on the plane? Ball gowns and hat boxes? Take your two pieces of checked baggage with you. Allow yourself extra time at the airport if time is the factor you're worried about. The time and energy you waste shipping your luggage doesn't seem to equal an extra 1/2 hour at the airport. If the airline loses your luggage they have to find it: next plane out. If UPS or FedEx loses your luggage you'll be home from your nudist vacation before they find it.
Check your cell phone provider re service. You may be able to advance your service for the time you are on island. If this is a vacation - geez - leave your cell phone at home and enjoy the peace and quiet. Leave your hotel telephone # with your family in case of emergency.
