Hi, <BR> <BR>We stayed there a couple of years ago and it was fine, definitely not a dump. <BR>It is built at the top of a hill so you have to climb down a lot of stairs to get to the beach which is very small. The story goes that there are 285 steps on the way down and 1000 on the way back up. I only went down once and was quite happy from then on to spend my time at the pool. Part of the deal then was to allow guests to spend time at a sister resort which was very big and had more amenities, if you don't like big, you won't like this other hotel. <BR> <BR>Los Galleones is very small and that was what we liked and it is also adults only, another plus, since we are seniors. The meals are a la carte but not much of a selection, although everything we had tasted good. It is a Jamaican owned hotel and the head chef was Jamaican and I think maybe that was the reason the food was quite good. <BR> <BR>If you have any specific questions please post and I will try to answer them. <BR> <BR>Kathy

Thanks for the reply kathy. We are looking for small and intimate this time but sometimes "small" turns out to mean "minimal room and bad food". <BR> <BR>Could you comment on the rooms and also about the beach. With such a small beach does it get crowded? Or do the stairs deter most people and the beach is empty? <BR> <BR>Thanks again for replying!

Hi again, <BR> <BR>When I was there the beach was deserted and yes, I think the steps are the reason why. <BR>The rooms are comparable to anyplace else in Cuba, which means plain but clean. <BR>Have you travelled to Cuba before or to any other caribbean countries? I think that in all these places the rooms are pretty basic, certainly not the Marriot if you know what I mean, but usually very clean. <BR>This hotel (and one other we stayed at) was very intimate and what's nice is that the staff are able to get to know you by name. <BR>I think if you don't expect the same standards that we in Canada are used to you will be quite happy. <BR>Kathy

We've stayed in Cayo Coco at the Tryp resort andseveral other similar places. Probably the worst we have stayed at was in San Andres and it was still pretty nice. I am a little bit of a hotel snob but if all things considered the place is decent and comfortable, and has some redeeming qualities, we will be happy. <BR> <BR>Thanks again.
