Hi:
Does anyone out there know the island I am searching for?. I do like the beach but am interested in seeing some of the historical background, either through ruins or quaint towns, and a vibrant local culture. Are Martinique or Jamaica or Turcs and Caicos my best bet?
Thanks,
GEsssa

Look at:
Nevis
Dominica
Grenada
The first place that came to my mind was Grenada. It does have lovely beaches, really interesting history, both recent and when it was still populated by the native peoples.
Great market to visit. Very nice people.
Thank you. Will check those out!
