Little Dix Bay dress code?

I'm going to Virgin Gorda for the first time in a few weeks. I usually go to Anguilla and stay at Cap Juluca but wanted to try something new. Most posts say Virgin Gorda is fairly casual, but the LDB website says they have a dress code. How dressy do I need to be?

The word is "resort casual." Not dressy-dressy (cocktail-type) but nice summer tops, pants or skirt, sundress for dinner. (Lots of linen and lightweight materials). Men wear collared shirts, long trousers and closed shoes (no sandals) at dinner. No sneakers, shorts or jeans at dinner. The rest of the time cover-up the swimsuit in public areas - cover-up or sarong for women, shirts for men.

Yup, similiar. Would love to hear your comparison of AXA and Virgin Gorda when you get back. Each time, I have a very hard time deciding between the two - altho the food is much better on AXA with all those choices. Think that I like Cap better than Little Dix tho - only because LDB is so family-friendly and has so many kids now but the spa services are really top notch!

I don't mind well-behaved kids, but will gladly post when I return. I hope to get a chance this year to check out the Gencom owned Cap Juluca (if the sale has gone through)

Beachplum, could you recommend restaurants on Virgin Gorda? To give you an idea of my tastes, in addition to Altamer, I love Picante's, Koalkeel, Ripple's and Palm Grove and the now departed Cedar Grove.

I must be hungry ... all that discussion of food and somehow got cut off when I "edited" especially "Giorgios." Don't expect the "fine" dining of Anguilla - think my favorite there still remains Straw Hat

Think that I remember that Spirit of Anegada does charters with Little Dix - a nice day and especially good lobster on Anegada (but thinking maybe this year they postponed the season until later this year). LDB will also do a private on-the-beach dinner.

Be sure to take lots of bug spray. There's been a lot of rain lately and it takes just about a couple of weeks for the moskitos and no-see-em to "bloom." Since it is greener and more lush than AXA, you'll find them a bit more annoying

Have fun. Wish I were there!

Can't figure out what is happening ... my first part doesn't show up when I click the thread but when I go to "post a reply" since I was gonna bite the bullet and retype it, it does - ?????????? So not sure I should repost ... I've saved a copy and if it doesn't appear I'll repost it ... it's just so long ...
rather strange!

okay ... so here it is ... unedited ...

One of the highlights of dining is at Biras Creek but you do have to go to Gunn Greek, take a launch and make reservations in advance. If that seems too much trouble, head there for lunch at the Fat Virgin which is at the dock. They'll even take you around for a tour in one fo the golf carts if you start walking up the "road." You also might want to check Chez Bamboo and Rock Cafe (ask to sit in the boulders). Have had good dinners at both but had the better lobster of the two at Chez last March. Girgio's at Mahoe gets rave reviews but it is primarily Italian and I've never eaten there - I don't go the the Carib for Italian (and don't eat it much at home either). I only had lunch at Little Dix this time which was lovely but be sure to ask them to pack your picnic and they take you to Spring Bay (just like the Baths and very quiet)or drop you off on a private "deserted island." I had wonderful curried conch from either the Top of the Baths or Mad Dogs (where the Pina Colada's are wonderful) - think it was Top of the Baths that someone brought back for me. Lots of folks enjoy Puck and his Flying Iguana at the airport - never been. Old Yard Inn used to have a bit of "French" but not sure that is true anymore - LDB should be able to tell you and if Thelma's HideOut (local cusine) is still there. The most recent trip, we stayed in a villa and only ate dinners out a few nites and the others are from years past. There is a "bakery" of sorts in SpanishTown" that has wonderful things including a roasted chicken to take with you. It's across from the auto parts store and there is no sign but he used to be the chef at Drakes Passage on Moskito Island and he makes wonderful treats. The yaughties all like the upstairs at Leverick Bay but I'm not so sure I'd love doing that road at nite!

(and it is still showing up on the "post a reply" but not under the thread ...... I love 'puters!)
