Less expensive places to eat in SXM

My wife and I and another couple are going the last week in Feb and are staying at the Atrium on Simpson Beach.

Where are some ideas for "cheaper" eating for some of the days and nights?

For example - good Happy Hour specials or splitting large appetizers with a few beers.

Scott

you can share appetizers at any restaurant.
some cheaper places to eat in Simpson Bay near your hotel:
Lee's Roadside grill
Toppers'
Pineapple Pete's
LIDO Grill take out in Cole Bay...... big plate of ribs or chicken with potatoes.. $11.00. delicious!
ribs or chicken only $6.00..enough to feed 2 people.
Boathouse
and in Orleans, try Yvette's..a great local food place that is very reasonable.
in grand case, eat at the lo lo's near the pier. Talk of the Town, Sky's the Limit... Open air local grill places. very very good and very inexpensive.
many of the beach bars are good for lunch and a few beers. Also you can try the restaurants in the Marigot Market for lunch.. local food at very reasonable prices. I like Enoch's.
Also Mark's Place near the traffic circle on the way into Philipsburg. it looks like it's just in a parking lot but it is cute inside and the food is very good..huge portions reasonable priced.
Have fun!

You have to go to Uncle Harry's by the airport for dinner. We had a group of 16 with drinks and lobster all around including tip was $50 a head.

All of Barbara's suggestions are right on target - especially Lee's for fish or Lobster. For appetizers the Greenhouse in Phillipsburg on the water does 2 for one drinks and reduced prices on appetizers from 4 until 6 ( could be later but am pretty sure it goes til 6. For lunch in Grand Case - Le California was pretty reasonable. Also check out the french bakery which is between the bridge and the airport on the airport side of the road. They have good pastry and I love their sandwiches. They open quite early. It is a little strip mall with a small grocery store which is next door and I believe there is a pharmacy and bank there too. Have a good time!

We find that the portions are quite large at lunch and end up splitting a club sandwich or appetizers. You will find many good deals on the island. You can also go to the local store and stock up on lunch/breakfast items to eliminate that cost. The food in SXM is good on the french side. I haven't stayed on the dutch side.
If you do have a chance, Grand Case has a ton of excellent restaurants.
