Le Tom Beach-St. Barts
Le Tom Beach questions...
New to St. Barts so bear with me.
Thinking about Le Tom Beach as a possible vacation spot. I do have some questions though. The superior rooms are I know are not huge but dimension wise what size are they? Can two people be in the bathrooms at once? Overall tell me about the grounds and rooms. Does anyone use the pool? Is there internet access?
The location is on St. Jean Beach. How long is the walk to Edens Rock? Can you walk into the Village St. Jean from there? Also, is there beach service meaning umbrellas and attendants at Le Tom? I hear the beach on St. Jean is deteriorating due to the past hurricanes. Any problems with this in front of Le Tom?
Any experiences at the hotel or anyone familiar with the area is much appreciated. Just returned from the Cuisinart on Anguilla. Truly amazing luxury resort but looking for a cheaper and smaller alternative for next summer.

Hi Steve - Just returned from St. Jean Beach. Am not familiar with Le Tom. My husband and I stayed at Filao Beach and I highly recommend it. It's also reasonably priced as is Emeraude Plage next door. The beach is beautiful and Eden Roc is a short walk from any of the hotels. Let me know if you need anything else. I used to stay at Cinnamon Reef in Anguilla and have already booked Emeraude Plage for next year.

I heard Falio Beach is being renovated next summer, the time of my trip. Eden Rock bought the joint and they are going to fix it up. Le Tom Beach is where the restaurant/bar La Plage is. Any chance you checked that out?

Steve - I apparently walked past Le Tom Beach every day but I can't really give you info on it. I think the restaurant there was closed in May. Are you going this summer or next? Filao Beach is ok for this summer but we also heard that it will be razed next summer and will be rebuilt as expensive suites for Eden Roc. Also, yes, you can walk up to the shopping and restaurants of St. John - but better to rent a car and explore the island. Shopping and eating in Gustave are excellent.

Tom Beach is fine. The beautiful restaurant LaPlage is closed though.
Yes you can see Eden Rock right outside.
The entire Village of St. Jean can be a little noisy since the road is right behind the hotels. It depends on what you are looking for. Quiet and seclusion this is not. You may want to try one of the other areas such as Flamands, where there are hills and the Island's widest beach.
There is a nice internet cafe in Gustavia. St. Barts is about as far from the resort experience on Anquilla as possible. Anquilla is flat as a pancake and on St. Barts you have lovely vistas arround every corner, plus since it's France, you don't have the former British colony uptightness.
Have a great trip. You may also want to consider a villa for about the same price, 1/2 the Guest rooms on St. Barts are in private villas...
