Just returned from Half Moon
We just got back from Half Moon a few weeks ago, it was wonderful! My husband and I along with our 2 year-old daughter took a direct flight from Charlotte, NC to Jamaica. It was a quick 2 1/2 hour flight.
When we arrived we were upgraded from a Junior Suite to a Royal Suite which was on the beach and on the other side was a semi-private pool.
The room was really nice, the room was updated with nice tile and the bathroom was HUGE. Both the jacuzzi tub and shower were very big and the living room off the bedroom was very comfortable.
We got the Platinum Meal Plan which I would recommend because it is even more expensive if you don't. The food was great at all of the restaurants but Il Guardino was my favorite which surprised me since I initially thought the Sugar Mill would have been the best but it was not.
This resort if perfect for families, it has it's own medical facility and shops along with every activity that you could think of.
Our daughter particularly liked the live music on the patio at night, she danced the night away and entertained everyone in the process.
We will definitely go back. If anyone has questions please feel free to ask.

I'm sure if you contact the resort they can arrange a transfer for you, but if not simply grab a taxi, it is a short ride and Jamaican airport taxis, being regulated (by the JUTA union) are consistently good.

Do you know what the cost should be - approximately? I heard you should get a price before you get in. Also - do I need to change money at the airport or can you pay with US dollars? I know on some carribbean islands you can pay with US$ - but I have never been to jamaica before.
Thanks for your help

The hotel will pick you up for free at the airport. They even have a little lounge in the airport where they serve you refreshments while you wait. They take your bags and everything (after going through immigration).

Half Moon will pick you up/just arrange with them in advance. It's not a good idea to just pick up a taximan at airport since it's not true that all taxis are JUTA/the Jamaican drivers union. Independent taximen, as long as they're PPV insured/certified and have either the papers to prove it or a red license plate are infinitely better than JUTA at the same or lower pricing.
And an independent will let you shop, shoot pix, 'dawdle' en route...
