Andrea - What part of Jamaica were you in? Where did you stay? Did you go to Dunn's River Falls? I'm getting married at Sandals Dunn's River in April '99. Sandals is already booked, so don't try to talk me out of it. We looked into a lot of resorts, but this one seems to fit our needs the best....at this time. But from what I read on this forum, I would love to go back for our one-year anniversary and stay somewhere more laid back. -Christine
Oh, one more thing Andrea, What's your opinion of the street vendors that try to sell you things. My Dad is going with us to see us marry... I'm just a concerned for him to be approach by drug dealers. For the most part, he can handle it, but is he going to get totally bombarded?
Christine,
Relax. First let me address the drug situation. It is not bad as many on this particular board suggest. If someone approaches you just say "no thanks" politely and keep walking. That goes for anything someone tries to sell you that you don't wish to buy.
Second, I would not try to talk you out of your decision on Sandals Dunns River, many people speak highly of it.
On our trip my husband and I had our wedding in Negril (spent 5 days there). Negril has the best sandy beaches in Jamaica.
We then spent another 5 days in Ocho Rios. Yes, we did Dunns River and took plenty of pictures there, awsome.
We also did a full day trip to Port Antonio. Unbelievable!
On your next trip to Jamaica (after this upcoming one) I would suggest you check out Negril.
Enjoy!!
