Just back from Honeymoon- Sandals Antigua any Questions?

We had our May Honeymoon at Sandals Antigua and had a great time! The grounds are beautiful, the beach is great and the water nice and clear and blue! Great restaurants the Japenese was our favorite! Nice people who work and manage the Sandals Antigua. Most would not pass you without saying hello or asking how your meal was! You can do as much or as little as you want to. We went snorkling twice, kayaking a few times, and lots of time in the great water!
We are planning on going there 01/03/00. What room categaory did you stay in ? We were considering the Jr. Honeymoon Suite. Is it worth the extra money for the suites? Are there any "bad" rooms ? Were there any jetskis to rent close to the resort ? We are really excited about going and are just waiting for rates to be released so we can book.

Jaime -- Please see my May posting if you haven't already. We stayed in the beachfront honeymoon suite and thought it was worth the extra money, mainly because we were right on the beach and that was important to us. We also liked the stocked refrigerator, which I think you get only in the suites. Jet skis are available just down the beach. Hope this helps.

Hi Jamie,
We booked the Honeymoon JR suite but we got "bumped" up to the next room level. I think they were called Junior Suites which I didn't recallseeing in the Sandals book. We were told these rooms were the newer rooms on the resort. They were up the hill from the main swim up bar pool. There were a lot of stairs to get to the room!! We didn't see a lot of benefit for the"upper room" except for the in room bar and better check in service. Yes there are local vendors who rent Jet Skis, don't worry they will find you! Overall we had a great time, you really don't need the room bar because there is plenty to drink at the regular bar! Any beachfront room i think would be worth the $, other then that i think the regular rooms would do! Have a great Time!
My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon to Antigua in October. Did anyone go scuba diving? How was it? Was there any extra cost for the equipment? How was the town of Antigua? Any information would be great. We just had two good friends return from their honeymoon there and they were not very happy and I am a bit concerned. Thanks!

Beth-WE just got back from Sandals Antigua last month. We didn't go scuba diving but we did go snorkling twice, it was very nice, by a reef , with a lot of fish and we saw a barracoda both times. It was to the same reef both times but it was fun! The resort is beatiful! The main town, St. Johns isn't as nice as the resort but we took a taxi tour and saw some great sights! Shirly Heights and Nelsons dock yard are Beutiful! Why didn't your friends like it? We saw the same negative responses too when we went but we had a great honeymoon! If you go with a positive feeling and relax you should have a great time. Everybody at the resort was very friendly, the water staff is great, restauraunts very good, beach was beautiful! The resorts at most of the Carribean seem to be a lot nicer than the rest of the Island, at least to our experiences. I didn't see anybody at that time we were there have any bad experiences.
I'd be interested in knowing what the negative things were. We were thinking about Sandals also but have heard that there are "very agressive vendors" on the beach. Is this true? Is anyone a serious diver? My husband dives and is curious about their dive facilities.
There are quite a bit of vendors on the Sandals Antigua beach but a friendly no Thank You will work. They walk up and down the beach and stand by the walkway by the beach but again if you here what they have to say and say no thanks you shouldn't have a problem. most of them are very nice and wont bother you. We found being in the water and on the edge of the beach closer to the Sandals properety, we were not bothered at all!
