Just back from a great week at Mango Bay on Virgin Gorda
DH and I had a fantastic 8-night stay at Mango Bay. Thanks to everyone here for your advice before the trip. It was one of the most relaxing trips we've ever had. Compared to other options on the island, we thought the "Just for Two" package at Mango Bay was a good value. We had an ocean view one-bedroom (all the oceanfront units were booked unfortunately). Frankly, it was so close to the water that we didn't mind at all. The snorkeling from the beach there was very good.
We had a great dinner at The Rock (included in our package) -- their chicken piccata was wonderful. We also got pizzas to go there a couple of times, and their prosciutto pizza was excellent. Lunch at the Top of the Baths was good, as was dinner at Chez Bamboo and dinner at The Mine Shaft.
More details to come.

Sorry it's taking so long to work through our photos, but I will definitely post more details soon. Looking at our photos I realize we saw a lot more snorkeling than I remembered - a Spotted Drum, rays, turtles, crabs, lobsters, squid -- and DH saw a shark and an octopus.
One thing I want to note is that we went on a daytrip snorkeling with Captain Dave of Double D and had a great time -- 4 snorkel stops, plus lunch, and a nice relaxing day on the boat (although I don't think there is enough sunblock in the world to prevent getting sunburned if you're spending a whole day out there like that -- we had sunblock and wore shirts, etc. and still got burned).
Overall I thought the snorkeling from the beaches on Virgin Gorda was more consistently good than St. John, but I would still say Waterlemon on St. John was our overall best snorkeling experience and had healthier coral than anywhere on VG.

Lisa, I am so glad you had a great time and loved Mango Bay as much as we did as well as the trip with Double D. I have not been on this forum in a while and was so glad to see your report. I can't remember now without looking it up but I think we stayed in # 6 that was an oceanview and I agree with you that oceanview was still great. I can't wait for a full trip report- hard to come home, isn't it? We just returned Sunday from an island trip (not BVI this time, unfortunately) and it gets harder and harder on the "re-entry" as my husband calls it. Please post more information on your trip so I can live vicariously through you! I am so glad you had a wonderful time!
