Just back and missing Cayman already!

Had another great trip to Cayman. Was glad to see the beaches coming back so nicely although parts of 7 Mile Beach particularly just off shore were a bit tougher to negotiate (Discovery Point to Aqua Bay in particular) with larger rocks, coral, etc. Did find a spot to get out closer to Christopher Columbus that was easier than many spots. Aqua Bay's condos are all remodelled and in wonderful shape and most of all the weather (except on Tuesday when it rained off and on all day) was wonderful. Lots of the old great dining places are back and better than ever---Granite Falls was a nice addition in the space that used to be Bella Capri (?). Meals at this steak/seafood spot include a starch and vegetable as well as a beer or well drink---I think my 12 oz. sirloin was only $22 CI, a bargain by Cayman standards. Likely the best steak I've ever had on the island. Also had a great meal at the Reef Grill---wonderful service. Raggazzi's still makes the best pizza and Pappagallo's looks better than ever---had the most wonderful yellowfin tuna there on Friday night AND they still have the best tiramisu on the island.

Lots of great places to go in the region, but Cayman is still our favorite!

Glad you had a great time.

Just wanted to change the name from Granite to Copper Falls for the steakhouse We ate there twice and loved it both times especially as we're not seafood fans. Dinner with 6 appetizers, 6 entrees and 4 desserts ran us $480 US. Dinner for 8 people ran us $600 US (w/tip).

Whoops! Copper it is! Prices are better than at many of the other fine restaurants on the island.

Good information. We're headed there on the 1st and wasa little worried about what to expect. My wife is freaked out about how expensive it seems there. Not worried, we'll be on vacation. I'll include it in my log when we return.

I agree totally about the pricing and especially with the quality of food. Service both nights was great.

Some sample prices from food store during 1/5-1/14: add 25% as these are in CI
20oz Aquafina .69
American white cheese 1 lb 5.29
Black Forest Ham 1 lb 6.11
D+W Roast Beef 1 lb 9.89
Premium Turkey 1 lb 7.17
Eggs Jumbo 1.49
Butter 1 lb 4.49
Yoplait yogurt .89
Breyers ice cream 1/2gal 6.65
Gulden mustard 1.19
Heinz ketchup 20oz 2.39
Pepsi 2lt 2.29
Pepsi fridge pack(12) 5.95
Ruffles chips 6.19
Lettuce 1.99
Bananas .69 lb
Oscar Meyer beef franks 4.29
IGA hotdog rolls 1.13

Restaurant pricing--we're not really 'drinkers' but do get bottled water(it's not necessary, we just prefer it)

China House--5 people---$190 (had leftovers)

Eduordo's--8 people $485
6 appetizer/soup/salad, entrees, 6 desserts

Hard Rock--(what can I say, we don't eat there back home and we love it!)
6 people--$250

Ferdinand's at Westin--breakfast buffet for 2 and juice $44

'7' at Ritz---4 people, lunch $120
buffet consists of burgers, hotdogs, fries and other normal things--cost $19 CI. Concensus was it's not for us. We should have gone over to the Westin and just ordered a standard lunch item. The food was decent but the premade sandwiches had things that we didn't like(an egg on a turkey club) so we were pulling things off. They do offer a menu to dine ala carte.

Wendy's--reasonable and good

KFC---not very good

We also ate at Lone Star for lunch and dinner. I can't recall the pricing but it wasn't high. I enjoyed my lunch more than dinner. Daughter and her husband felt food wasn't as good as in previous years(they frequent there more for the bar And they ate at Calypso for lunch and enjoyed it.

Friends dined at Reef Grill, the Wharf and Lobster Pot and enjoyed them all. Did mention Reef Grill's menu was limited---my group was going there but since we're not seafood lovers, voted against it.

Forget the rum cake I need the rum!!! My husband and I loved our Tortuga Rum all summere and ran out. Mom was suppose to pick up some on a recent cruise but was sidetracked by hurricane Wilma. My favorite restaurants are the lighthouse and crows nest which were destroyed by Hugo, We stay on the northside and love the rum point restaurant as well.
